This project was shot in Southern Germany at the beginning of January 2017. A lot of things changed during that year that left me feeling lost and in grief. These photos resemble the darkness of that year for me, even though I didn't know it yet at the time I pressed the shutter.

We followed the road through the mountains on the first days of the new year. An escape from the real world, no looking back. I don’t know how many miles we drove but it made me forget about time. The snow was fresh, the car was cold. I felt a desperate need to disappear right there, and I didn’t even know yet what a tragic year would be ahead of us. I think the mountains did.
